taken after coming home from college the first time. we did the "usual," hitting up the top ten or whatnot of what-to-do-in-portland mixed with what-we-normally-did, to the tune of a lot of homecomings of that sort. this phenomenon of people turning to silhouettes over time is something that occupies my headspace these days.

and another, but of a completely different friend group. i've always had a lot, and the more i move around the more they grow. i'm thankful for this, and consider myself...i don't know, lucky? in some way, to be able to have friends in the places i frequent. the exception would be utah, i suppose, (minus jake). while they grow, however, it grows harder to maintain connections, which is bewildering to me. not in the sense that i don't understand, simply that the dilemma is massive, and without resolution. looking at the faces i can't distinguish who's who in this version. i have a bigger one, but why i liked this shot (i think reid took it) was because it is the quintessential group-of-friends-around-a-bonfire pic that everyone either has or wants to own. if not everyone, then i surely did. it's proof, is it not, of a point in which you were once loved. maybe the faces don't even matter as much as the suggestion of photo in general. we burned a couch that night. the flames were unbelievable.
